Barbara Derby Winner Went into Surgery and Got Out Fine
Topic: Consumer Products

It was so great to see Barbaro emerging out of the gates. But soon the mood changed as something appeared to happen to the great horse. It was complete silence. Fans as well as owners and trainers did not know what to say. The Derby winner's fate was sealed. He was not to participate in the Preakness. All the bets were off. A horse that was the leader of the pack became the follower. Eventually, an ambulance showed up to shield the horse from the public. It was not enough. Everyone thought Barbaro was going to be put down. The owners thought otherwise. Despite huge insurance premiums, they chose to send it to surgery. After a five-hour surgery, the horse came out fine. Veterinarians are saying that his survival case is a 50-50 draw.

"His survival, however, is still 50-50. Despite the huge first step on the road to recovery, Dr. Dean Richardson said the Kentucky Derby winner's fate still came down to "a coin toss. Right now he's very happy," Richardson said after the surgery at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center for Large Animals. "He's eating, he's doing very good. But I've been doing this too long to know that day one is not the end of things."

Soon a tribute to Barbaro started forming. Get well wishes started pouring in on the website. Barbaro sustained a broken cannon bone above the ankle, a broken sesamoid bone behind the ankle and a broken long pastern bone below the ankle. The fetlock joint -- the ankle -- was dislocated.

Fresno Woman Won Spanking Lawsuit against Alarm One Inc.
Topic: Media Impact

Workplace Sexual Harassment is not to be tolerated: Janet Orlando's Case Shed Light on Bad Business Practices

In its hey day, Alarm One, based in Anaheim, had more than 300 employees who provide sales, installation, service and alarm monitoring to thousands of families across this country. Since the lawsuit filed by the Fresno woman, the company downsized to 50 employees. It has also closed many of its branch offices. The Fresno office did not escape the ax.

Under the guise of motivational trainings, spankings took place. They occurred during sales staff meetings attended by teams of salespeople that competed against each other. The court testimony showed that in order to motivate the teams, the losers were spanked on the buttocks area while onlookers were hooting and yelling unbecoming comments. The court testimony showed that the atmosphere was one of complete lack of respect for the workforce. The Alarm One company knew it had some problems when it settled with some other employees who brought their lawsuit.

Jurors heard the arguments presented by both sides. They decided to side with Janet Orlando. The jury of six men and six women deliberated about 9 hours over two and reached its verdict. Janet Orlando has become the new millionaire in town. Well, we know she will get about $800,00. Hooting and hollering abusive language in a court of law is not permissible.

Latin hip hop, Reggaeton: The Kings of the first Reggaeton Generation
Topic: Hip hop Music

Long before Don Omar, Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderon, lived Bob Marley who brought us the Reggae beat from the streets of his Kingston home. These days, young artists hailed from Puerto Rico are pushing the envelope. There is no doubt that Don Omar, Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderon are some of the most successful artists of the new genre.

What is Reggaeton?

It fuses everything from hip hop, salsa, dancehall to rock, samba, bomba and guaguanco. It is highly influenced by the American R&B and Soul. In some of the songs, the speak over may remind you of the Gospel influences. Tego Calderon says that Reggaeton needs this kind of musical promiscuity to have a true staying power.

These artists use English and Spanish to reach out to their audience. There is a huge U.S. market ready to absorb anything new. Tego's album, The Underdog/El Subestimado shows exactly what the new genre is all about. It remains very appealing to the young group which marketers want to attract so much. All of these new artists want new control. They do not want any label company to have all rights.

Just like Univision, the Latin Music industry can only grow. Hispanics are loyal to their music, telenovelas and culture. For them, the family is very important.

What are some of the images that come to your mind as you listen to a Reggaeton song?

DADDY YANKEE LYRICS

"Lo Que Paso, Paso"
Ah ah dale mambo (entre tu y yo)
Dale mambo (daddy)

Y si no tienes experiencia te enamora

mujer me janguea
Presea dale presea no dejes pa manana no dejes

mujer me janguea
Presea dale presea no dejes pa manana no dejes

(dile) yo soy soltero ma y tu preseas
Yo saco otra a bailar y tu preseas
Tu comes en too laos y me preseas
Si tienes dueno ma por que preseas

(vamos a dejar esto claro ya ok)

Lo que paso, paso entre tu y yo [x4]

Ah ah dale mambo [x2]
Luny tunes
