2006 Oscar Awards Fashion is Inspiration for Superb Prom & Quincenera Knock-off Dresses and Gowns
Topic: California Prom Dresses

Who wore what at this year’s Oscar Award Ceremony?

The ladies of Hollywood stole the show with their flowing dresses and gowns. Also, the designers had a great presentation with the stars who donned their creations. Among them, we can say that Vera Wang had a great show. Keira Knightley donned a great wine-colored, one-shoulder gown designed by Vera Wang. It must be noted that white or off-white colors were worn for the most part tonight. Knightley complemented this beautiful gown with a spectacular necklace with emeralds, rubies and diamonds that come from the Bulgari archives. She also wore gold sandals with multiple ankle straps designed by Jimmy Choo. Miss Knightley who is 20 years old turned heads on the red carpet. Her makeup artist used steel and charcoal chanel eye colors on her face. Kudos to Kate Lee who tried to find the right tone to apply to her pigmentation.

With her hair swept in a 1930s style, Michelle Williams wore a marigold yellow chiffon gown with tulle pleats that surround the V neck allowing her to display a 19th-century diamond fringe necklace from the shop of Fred Leighton. Sandra Bullock glowed on the red carpet. The beauty of her dress was a natural attraction, specially when she emerged from the back to present an award. Angel Sanchez dressed Sandra with a navy dress. As far as Amy Adams, she wore a chocolate brown gown with ribbon by Carolina Herrera. Adams also borrowed Herrera's own aquamarine dangling earrings.

Other leading ladies also showed their love for dresses and gowns on this special night. John Galliano for Christian Dior dressed Charlize Theron with a forest-green handpainted gown with a giant bow on the shoulder. She also commented on the leather silk satin fabric. How about Marc Anthony’s wife, Jennifer Lopez? ." Jennifer Lopez wore a lighter green gown with a fitted bodice that laced up in the back like a corset. It is safe to say that Jennifer wore one of the best dresses on the red carpet tonight. Corset is making a comeback. More and more Hollywood and New York ladies are wearing it. Giorgio Armani dressed Zivi Zhang in a black scalloped seashell-shaped lace bustier with jet beading worn with a gray Swarovski crystal encrusted full crinoline skirt. Hilary Swank was donned in a sweetheart-style black strapless gown by Versace. Ah! Versace always stunned the public with one of the house’s black creations!

Reese Witherspoon wore a gown with rows of silver beads. Her husband was very elegant in his three-piece suit with a black tie. She was happy to catch the best actress award this evening. Zac Posen dressed Felicity Huffman in a supersexy black gown with a V neck, keyhole back, sheer panels on the side and pleated bodice and hem. Salma Hayek introduced the winner of best score with Brokeback Mountain. She had on a slate blue gown. Roberto Cavalli dressed Jada Pinkett Smith in a bright blue strapless column gown. Jada Pinkett is Will Smith’s wife. Meryl Streep's plum V-neck gown with long sleeves looked superb with the dangling earrings she wore. On the red carpet, Isaac Mizrahi behaved tonight. There was no side show. Jennifer Garner wore a halter-style, hand-embroidered Michael Kors gown in nude-colored tulle featuring Swarovski crystals and sterling silver flowers. Other important ladies of Hollywood also wore key dresses and gowns. Nicole Kidman was in a cream-colored strapless gown with beautiful delicate embroidery, and Naomi Watts wore a nude-colored, one-shoulder gown with frayed fabric on the top by Givenchy. Rochas donned Jennifer Anniston in a black tank gown with a long train and a vintage platinum-and-diamond Bulgari necklace from the 1930s. Her makeup artist, Angela Levin, also used Chanel mascara on her. Helena Bonham Carter wore an off-the-shoulder, tea-length blue satin gown. Jessica Alba wore a tight gold Versace halter gown with floral beading. The cameraman caught her applying and touching up her Dior lipgloss. Pamella Roland dressed Jane Seymour in a champagne satin halter gown with jeweled accents on the bodice. Rachel Weisz had on a slinky black gown with cap sleeves which also showed off significant cleavage.

No Freaking Allowed: High School Principals Put Their Foot Down
Topic: Formal Prom Dances

All over the country, parents and high school principals are at arms over the new dance craze which simulates sexual activity on the dance floor. Many of them have never had the chance to be at a dance to witness freak dancing first hand. So they rely on others' report and the lone courageous chaperone's testimonial. Now, one may have to wonder whether these parents have even watched BET, Mundo, and MTV to get an idea of the new dance moves. We also wonder whether they know that some magazines such as Essence and Boston Globe are leading campaigns against what they see as the degradation of the female body on Hip Hop music videos.

These days, the impact of the hip hop/music video-based culture takes its toll on families. It causes parents to argue with their daughters. For example, parents have to negotiate whether it is appropriate to let them have body piercings and some gothic tattoos. When it comes to freaking, they may not have enough information to make up their mind. Peer pressure causes many women to wear belly button jewels. It is the continuing quest to be beautiful, popular and hip.

We will not provide all the definitions of freaking here. But if you are interested, you can see many definitions and the origins of this term at urbandictionary.com. The site has a disclaimer. "Urban Dictionary is not appropriate for all audiences." It is a slang dictionary with your definitions. The site helps you define your world.

The Little Black Dress, The Pink Gown, and the White Outfit
Topic: Miami Beach Prom Shops

The little black dress is always in vogue. The white dress is also making a comeback. There are some venues where white dresses will fit in very well. At cocktail parties, white dresses are welcome. If you want, you can always accessorize them. Depending on your shape, you may want to see which type of color enhances your body. You even have to care about your complexion and ethnic background. Experts say that there are some colors that tend to highlight your figure. They say that brunettes and readheads look awesome in white. However rubenesque ashy blondes may not look too great wearing white dresses. If you are olive-skinned and any other color derivatives, you may want to choose bright whites or some other colors. Fashionistas recommend that you play with the colors a little bit.

How about caring for white dresses?

Experts recommend that you clean the underarms of dresses with a little cold water before you put them away. The reason is that sweat stains tend to form under the arms. Keep in mind that whites tend to show sweat stains. The same experts say that white is to be used between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Others say that white is good for any season. It is almost like black. For sure, you will find a lot of people buying white in the Spring to stock up for the Summer months. They will buy cotton materials mostly. A word of wisdom for anybody wearing white is to stay away from anything that may put a permanent stain on it.

Best Dress and best Actress Award

Cate Blanchett reached down to Valentino who designed her gold silk gown. She turned heads on the red carpet last night. She won as a supporting actress and a good choice of dress selector. Most fashion observers cheered for Kate Winslet and Natalie Portman, the Israeli-born actress who was discovered in New York. Kate wore a jewel-encrusted Bagdley Mischka frock. Both of these leading ladies wore greek-inspired gowns.

Great that Hilary Swank got the Best Actress award for Million Dollar Baby! Her long ??“sleeved, backless dress was designed by Guy Laroche. The dress was a nice sapphire blue that accentuates the curvilinear assets of the actress. Read the rest of the article at California's Hot PromDresses.
